About the Oroville Metro Market

Founded on the beautiful banks of the Feather River, Oroville came to life in 1848 just before the epic arrival of the 49ers and California's historic gold rush. Today "The City of Gold" still maintains its small town charm and attracts an increasingly affluent population drawn to its spectacular surroundings and major California attractions. According to statistics compiled by the California State University, Chico, the Oroville Area Population is projected to reach more than 75,000 by 2015.

Oroville is known as the gateway to the Lake Oroville Recreation Area which offers 167 miles of shoreline with secluded coves, world-class fishing, house boating, swimming, picnicking, water skiing and other aquatic sports. Lake Oroville also hosts several world class fishing competitions including the BASSmasters Tournament Trial Series.
